ERTICO ITS EUROPE

ERTICO – ITS Europe is a public-private partnership of 120 companies and organisations representing service providers, suppliers, the traffic and transport industry, research, public authorities, user organisations, mobile network operators, and vehicle manufactures.

ERTICO embodies thought leadership and fosters stakeholder engagement; Together with our partners, we develop, promote and deploy Intelligent Transport Systems and Services (ITS) through a variety of activities, including European co-funded projects, innovation platforms, international cooperation, advocacy and events. ERTICO is the organiser of the annual ITS regional and global Congress in Europe. Our work focuses on Connected, Cooperative & Automated Mobility, Urban Mobility, Clean & Eco-Mobility, and Transport & Logistics.

In FEDORA, ERTICO leads the project coordination and management, ensuring effective governance, collaboration and progress across the consortium. ERTICO also leads dissemination, communication, standardisation and exploitation activities, promoting FEDORA’s outcomes to stakeholders across the mobility ecosystem and supporting the uptake and scalability of the project’s solutions.

AIT - AUSTRIAN INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY

The AIT Austrian Institute of Technology possesses extensive expertise in the data acquisition, modeling, simulation, and optimization of multi-modal traffic flows. Our capabilities encompass a diverse spectrum, ranging from motorized individual transport and active mobility (pedestrians, cyclists, e-scooters) to commercial logistics, public transit, rail-bound systems, and inland waterways.

Within the FEDORA project, AIT spearheads the development of advanced control algorithms for traffic signals and urban corridors in Vienna. The primary objective is to achieve a Social Optimum—a global equilibrium where individual contributions to the objective function, such as vehicle wait times or pedestrian delays, are strategically weighted. This approach ensures a holistic optimization of the network that balances efficiency with equity across all participant groups.

AKKODIS

Akkodis is a European leader in engineering consulting and R&D services with a diverse team of 50,000 engineers and digital experts, operating across 30 countries (about 9000 persons in France). In FEDORA, Akkodis leads the implementation and integration of the cross-sectoral dataspace, aiming to ease the exchange of multimodal mobility data between the project’s stakeholders. Akkodis is also responsible for the elaboration and maintenance of the Data Management Plan.

Frontier Innovations

Frontier Innovations is an IT solutions SME, established to deliver leading edge technologies, intelligent technical solutions and consulting services to businesses, organizations and governmental bodies, with the mission of delivering innovations expanding the digital frontier, while having an impact on its customers.

As Scientific-Technical Coordinator FRONT ensures the overall technical integrity of the project, supporting and assisting on technical activities throughout the project as needed. Additionally FRONT are responsible for the overall framework architecture and spaces definition, the development of the Data Space Smart Contracts module, and the development of the Complex Event Processing Engine and Dynamic Mitigation Measures Response Planning.

MJC2

MJC² develops fast powerful algorithms to solve very large, complex planning and scheduling problems, addressing the ever-increasing demand for dynamic planning and real-time optimization in business and industry operations. Our software addresses areas such as distribution planning, strategic logistics optimization, real-time scheduling, employee scheduling and synchromodal logistics optimization.

MJC²'s advanced planning and scheduling software provides automated scheduling capability, optimizing the operation with minimal manual intervention while ensuring that all operational rules and constraints are followed. We provide tailored integrated solutions that are configured to fit business and user requirements, making them easy to use and integrate with legacy systems and processes.

In FEDORA MJC² will develop the Synchromodal Conflict-Free Vehicle Routing Optimiser providing powerful new software tools and algorithms for multimodal logistics planning and scheduling.

UCY – University of Cyprus

The University of Cyprus (UCY) is the oldest and largest public university in Cyprus, and participates in this proposal via the KIOS Research and Innovation Center of Excellence (KIOS CoE). The KIOS CoE operates within the University of Cyprus and was established in 2008, advancing into a European Research and Innovation Center of Excellence in 2017. It is the largest research and innovation center in Cyprus and conducts research and innovation activities emphasizing monitoring, control, management and security of critical infrastructures. The goal of the Center is to conduct outstanding interdisciplinary research and innovation and produce new knowledge and tools that can be applied to solve real-life problems.

For FEDORA, KIOS CoE will lead the optimization of multimodal transport hubs. Optimization algorithms will be developed that consider, among other factors, aerial transportation services and UAV-based traffic monitoring. Solutions will be validated in the Intelligent Transportation Systems testbed at UCY and demonstrated in small-scale field trials in the city of Nicosia.

VERKEHRSVERBUND OST-REGION

The transport association for Vienna, Lower Austria and Burgenland.

Verkehrsverbund Ost-Region (VOR) coordinates public transport in Vienna, Lower Austria, and Burgenland. ITS Vienna Region, VOR’s competence center for intelligent transport systems, develops traffic models and operates key components like the common network graph (GIP) and the real-time data system (EVIS AT).

Technical University of Denmark

DTU is a public technical university under the Danish Government and the leading technical university in Scandinavia. DTU has intensive collaboration with industry and was in 2021 ranked as number 10 in the world on the “Collaborative Publications with Industry" indicator of Leiden Ranking. In World University Research Rankings 2020, DTU is ranked: No. 1 in the Nordic region, No. 1 in Europe, No. 2 in the world. The Department of Technology, Management and Economics at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU Management) has about 200 employees, including ca. 70+ PhD. In the Transportation Science Division, we focus on improving mobility in relation to the three main challenges within this sector: 1) climate and environment; 2) traffic congestion; 3) traffic safety. We put numbers on traffic effects and economic and societal effects using statistical analyses of transport behaviour.

MLC ITS Euskadi

The Basque Mobility and Logistics Cluster (MLC-ITS Euskadi), is a private non-profit association founded in 2005 in the Basque Country (Spain). It works in the fields of people mobility, freight logistics and related industry developing transport products, solutions, services and specific technologies (ITS – Intelligent Transport Systems), which make mobility increasingly safer, more efficient, sustainable and technologically advanced.

BME - Budapest University of Technology and Economics

The Budapest University of Technology and Economics (BME) is the leading technical university in Hungary. The Department of Aeronautics and Naval Architecture of the Faculty of Transport and Vehicle Engineering is dedicated to transport sciences, especially the simulation and control of inland navigation, and plays a key role in scientific research related to Hungarian inland navigation.

Comune di Reggio Emilia

Reggio Emilia is an Italian medium-sized city (172.000 inhabitants) with a strong focus on urban quality and environmental sustainability. Its Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan sets out a long-term vision to make travel more efficient, safe, and sustainable by promoting public transport, cycling, and a reduced reliance on private cars. The plan also aims to improve traffic flow through a more integrated and intelligent mobility system, making use of new technologies such as digital parking services, shared mobility solutions, and smart traffic management tools. The overall goal is to create a more accessible city, with less congestion and lower environmental impact.

Within FEDORA, Reggio Emilia will test a digital tradable credit scheme for sustainable personal mobility, aimed at changing individual travel behavior toward lower pollution and more sustainable choices.

ETH Zürich

The Traffic Engineering group (SVT) of ETH Zurich has experience in developing advanced traffic management solutions with a focus on fairness and equity considerations, at microscopic or macroscopic level using analytical investigations, numerical simulations, data-driven techniques and physics-informed AI.

IRF - International Road Federation

The International Road Federation (IRF) is a global, independent, not-for-profit organisation with headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland. Active since 1948, IRF is a membership-based organisation, representing leading corporate and institutional players drawn from the road and mobility sectors worldwide. Its mission is to promote the development of roads and road networks that enable access and sustainable mobility for all. Its approach is centred on key strategic components of knowledge transfer & information sharing, connecting people, businesses, and organisations, and working on policy & advocacy.

IRF is responsible for running all tasks related to international cooperation, transferability and the development of policy recommendations, based on the results of the demonstrations. IRF is actively involved in the stakeholder co-creation activities which are required as part of the Living Labs Set Up in WP2. IRF will make use of the project’s results to expand its current training course and capacity-building activity portfolio. Likewise, policy recommendations required for facilitating optimal MTM in rural and urban settings will be produced and IRF’s network leveraged for the purpose of project results at events such as IRF World Congress.
